Denny Blaine Park is a place that is so special to so many of us, and unfortunately due to the nature of the threats facing the park, Friends of the Denny Blaine has been very limited in what we are allowed to discuss at this time. As the weather heats up and the beach blooms into life to be the vibrant space we all know, many are asking:

What can I do to help protect the park?

#1 Be a Good Steward of Our Unique Space

Friends of Denny Blaine is a community-led organization comprised of passionate beachgoers, but we cannot win this fight alone – we need our beachgoing community to help promote a culture of mutual respect and stewardship. The easiest way to help protect our beach is to be a good steward of this public land that we are so fortunate to have access to. Please encourage others to be mindful of the space that they are using and to be respectful of the greater community. Please become familiar with our Community Guidelines, and when spending time at the beach and in community, help educate others about the culture, history, and appropriate uses of the beach.

#2 Volunteer!

There are many volunteer opportunities, and we are actively looking for people to pitch in – our board is an incredibly dedicated team, but we cannot do it by ourselves. There are opportunities available for everyone, no matter how much or little time you have to offer. We are currently looking for help distributing and promoting our community guidelines at the park, creating social media content, attending landscaping events, assisting with fundraising and assisting with event organization. If you have a unique skill that you think would be useful that you don’t see listed here – we would love to hear from you! This is a people powered movement and we need every person to help preserve this space.

#3 Tell Us Your Story!

Our community is immensely diverse and we have all met so many amazing people with unique and deeply touching stories about the beach and what it means to them. We want to promote the stories of our community that aren’t being told in the media – the stories that highlight why this place matters so much to so many. If you are new to this beach, or have been coming back for decades – we want to hear why, so that we can tell the world how special of a place this is. We are actively seeking written, art, and interview content for our media platforms – and are always open to unique ideas for ways to amplify the voices of our community.

#4 Advocate for Denny Blaine!

Every person has a voice – use it! Whether it is talking to a friend or family member about why Denny Blaine Park deserves to exist in the way it has for decades, posting on social media about your beach adventures (Tag us @friendsofdennyblaine!), attending a public meeting to advocate for Denny Blaine Park, or contacting your local representatives letting them know how critically important this beach is to our community – your voice can make a difference!

#5 Donate

If you have the means, please donate to help assist us with current and future costs related to fighting this fight. There are many ways to donate, including one-time donations, reoccurring, and employer matching benefit donations. All your donations will be used to help protect the park and for costs related to digital infrastructure, advocacy materials, events, legal costs, outreach marketing, organizational management, and more.
