On September 23, 2025, the state of Washington’s Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP) voted unanimously to enter Denny Blaine Park into the Washington Heritage Register.
This marks DAHP’s first nude beach nomination and the first application to specifically include a direct connection to the LGBTQ+ community. The multi-page analysis celebrating the city’s diverse lifestyles was submitted by Friends of Denny Blaine co-Founder, Colleen Kimseylove.
This symbolic recognition was met with a chorus of cheers as the beach community held an on-site viewing party.
